Exams

Elementary School exams begin June 21st through June 25th, 2010.

Examination Procedures

ASCIS students are expected to arrive on time for their examinations and to be prepared with all necessary supplies as specified by the teacher (ie. sharpened pencils, erasers, rulers, etc.) Only pencil cases (and calculators for math-related examinations) are permitted in the examination room. All other belongings must be stored in the students’ lockers. Students may also be asked to remove their watches and stow these as well as any other mechanical devices. Whenever authorized, students may use only the ASCIS dictionaries and calculators. In all instances, the examination teachers and monitors reserve the absolute right to require students to remove articles from their examination desks which they deem may compromise the integrity expected during the examination.

All students must remain silent for the duration of the examination period. Any talking during the examination, expect with the permission of the teacher/monitor, will be treated severely.

Unauthorized talking may be considered a breach of an examination rule resulting in the possible termination of the student’s examination and accordant consequences. Students requesting the assistance of one of the examination monitors must raise their hand and wait quietly until the monitor responds.

A student who is in any way dishonest during an examination will be asked to turn in his/her examination paper. The examination will be assessed accordingly with the possible result of a grade of zero being assigned.

Only in exceptional cases, to be justified at the monitor’s discretion, will a student be allowed to leave the examination room before completing his/her exam.

Students should therefore go to the washroom before the examination begins.

Students who are late for an examination will not be given extra time.

Intermediate and Senior students are expected to attend classes following their final examination. Once an examination for a given subject has been written, it will be reviewed and new material will gradually be introduced. There will be no new work during the testing period.

Providing there are no other exams scheduled during that day, Upper School students will be allowed, after their June examinations, to go home early and therefore, to be absent from school for the remainder of the school day. Elementary students are required to remain at school until 3:30 p.m.

N.B. ASCIS will not allow students to sit examinations unless fees are paid as detailed and agreed upon in the designated Payment Plan; and, therefore Grades and reports will not be issued to any student who has an outstanding debt with the Accounting Department of ASCIS.
