Laurie Bruce - IB Biology

Ms. Bruce obtained a B.A. in Mathematics with a Minor in Biology from the University of Windsor and worked as a Math teacher for the Windsor Public School Board and for St. Clair College. Ms. Bruce received her IB training in Biology in Montreal, Quebec. She has been teaching at ASCIS since 1993. As such, Ms. Bruce is one of ASCIS’ “pioneer teachers”.

Lauren Caza- Science
Mrs. Caza completed the Concurrent Education Program at the University of Windsor. With courses focused on Chemistry and Biology, she obtained her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degrees simultaneously. Mrs. Caza is currently teaching Grade 10 Science along with Intermediate Math and Science.


Susan Clark –English

Mrs. Clark studied at the University of Windsor where she graduated with a B.A. (1970), an Honours B.A., (1974) and a M.Ed. (1984).  After completing her teaching training and B.Ed. at the University of Toronto , she began teaching in 1971.  During her 36 years of teaching with the Greater Essex County District School Board, Mrs. Clark taught at the Windsor High School of Commerce, Centennial Secondary School, Herman Secondary School, Shawnee High School, and Walkerville Collegiate Institute.  When she retired from the GECDSB in 2008, she was nominated for the Excellence in Teaching Life Time Achievement Award from the provincial government.  Since the fall of 2008, she has taught English at Academie Ste Cecile International School.


Paulette Coady - IB French

Miss Coady studied at the University of Windsor and the University of Western Ontario. She obtained a double Honours B.A. in French and English.   She taught both English and French at the secondary school level for 34 years.   She held the post of Head of Modern Languages and French Immersion for 10 years. She was Program Leader for the Greater Windsor Essex School Board, responsible for setting up the French Immersion Program at the secondary level.   Ms. Coady now teaches IB French at ASCIS having received her training in July 2008.


Tiffany Kearns - IB Dance (pilot)

Mrs. Kearns is a graduate of the Dance Arts Program at Cambrian College of Applied Arts and has taken specialised courses for the development of children through dance education. Mrs. Kearns has professional dance training in Cecchetti method ballet (I.S.T.D.), C.D.T.A. tap and jazz, A.D.A.P.T. jazz and modern dance using the Graham and Luigi techniques. She has obtained full membership with the C.D.T.A. (Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association) jazz division. In addition to teaching at the Dance Studio of Académie Ste. Cécile, Mrs. Kearns teaches drama and dance at ASCIS. She is now the teacher for the IB pilot dance program having attended a planning conference in March 2009.


Dr. D. Keselica -
Physics, Science and Mathematics

Having graduated with an Honours degree in Physics from the University of Windsor in 1997, Dr. Keselica then studied for a PhD in Quantum theory using Geometric Algebra's with Dr. W.E. Baylis (University of Windsor). In 2008, he was a Sessional Instructor at the University of Windsor teaching courses in Electromagnetic theory, Quantum Physics and Introductory Physics in addition to a post-doctoral position. In 2010, Dr. Keselica joined the Faculty at Academie Ste Cecile International School teaching Physics, Science and Mathematics.


Kathy  Kovosi - IB Visual Arts

Ms. Kovosi obtained a B.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts from NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a Visual Arts Diploma from Camosun College in Victoria, BC.  She began her teaching career as a surf instructor on Canada's west coast.  After obtaining her B.Ed (Visual Arts Specialization) from the University of Windsor she has taught overseas in Korea for 6 months and in Taiwan for over 2 years.  Upon returning to Canada, she received her ESL teaching certificate and IB Visual Arts teaching certification.  She has been teaching at ASCIS since returning from Taiwan in 2009.


Samantha Morin – Mathematics and Computer Science

Mrs. Morin graduated from the University of Windsor with Great Distinction.  She completed the 5 year concurrent program in Mathematics and Education (Hon. B.Math B.Ed).  Mrs. Morin has an Honours Mathematics degree with a minor in Business Administration as well as and a second teachable in Computer Studies.  She received her Special Education qualification in 2010.  She has been teaching Grade 9, 10, 11 Math at ASCIS since 2010 and currently assists with both yearbook and math club school programmes.


Jerry Neufeldt - IB English

Mr. Neufeldt studied English at the University of British Columbia where he graduated with an Honours B.A. in English in 1966 and an M.A. in English in 1968. After moving to Ontario in 1968, he began teaching with the Windsor Board of Education and completed the courses for the Honours Specialist Certificate from Althouse College of Education. During his 31 years of teaching with the Windsor Board, Mr. Neufeldt taught at Windsor High School of Commerce, Centennial Secondary School and Herman Secondary School. While at Centennial and Herman, Mr. Neufeldt contributed to curriculum development and planning in his role as Department Head of English. Coaching the senior girls’ basketball team also became a significant part of his involvement at Herman. After retiring from the Windsor Board in June 1999, he taught part-time at St. Clair College in the Applied Arts. Mr Neufeldt, who teaches IB English, attained his training in 2001.


Mr. Tom Parsons

Mr. Parsons completed his Bachelor of Arts with a Math Major at the University of Windsor. From 1965 to 1998 he taught Mathematics at Riverside Secondary School where he was Department Head of Mathematics for thirteen years. Throughout his 33 years of teaching, Mr. Parsons coached many athletic teams and was actively involved in curriculum development and design.


Mrs. Cheryl Prodan

Mrs. Prodan received her Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor. She worked in the Finance Industry at TD Canada Trust in various positions including Administration Manager before joining the team at Hiram Walker-Allied Domecq (currently Pernod-Ricard). She started in the Treasury Department at Allied Domecq as a Financial Analyst and eventually transferred to the Auditing Department as an Audit Supervisor. She also worked as a Project Manager and IT Systems Analyst.

After receiving her Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor she worked as a supply teacher for the John McGivney Children’s Centre and the Catholic and Public School Boards.

Mrs. Program commenced her career with ASCIS in September 2008, teaching International Business, Careers and

Mrs. Prodan is a sports enthusiast and has coached both at the school and travel levels in volleyball, basketball, badminton and soccer. She has been married to Michael for 23 years and is the proud mother of two teenage boys.


Anita Toronyi (Mrs. )- Spanish and ESL at ASCIS

Mrs. Toronyi completed her undergraduate studies at University of Windsor with Honours in German and a Minor in Spanish. She also attained a Master's Degree in Foreign Language Education from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. In 2010, Mrs. Toronyi earned her English as a Second Language Certification.

Her work includes teaching Spanish and German at Renaissance High School in Detroit, MI for 8 years, German Sessional Instructor in the Languages, Literatures and Cultures Department at the University of Windsor.   Mrs. Toronyi joined the faculty at ASCIS in 2011.


Ann Marcotte – Principal/Head of Student Services

Mrs. Marcotte obtained her B. Sc. [Math] and B. Ed. Degrees from the University of Windsor. One of ASCIS’ “pioneer teachers”, she has been teaching at ASCIS since 1993. Mrs Marcotte has taught various levels of mathematics and has served as IB CAS and IB Diploma Programme Coordinators. She has participated in multiple professional development workshops and conferences while at ASCIS.  In addition to her current role as principal, she continues as the Head of Student Services and as the school’s AP program coordinator.


Sarah Schlesinger
– Dean of Academics / IB Math

Principal of the Elementary and High Schools, Mrs. Schlesinger obtained her B.Sc. degree in Mathematics, Chemistry and Education as well as a Teaching Certificate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. She later earned an M.Sc. degree in Mathematics and a Type A Honour Specialist Certificate for teaching Mathematics from the University of Windsor. Mrs. Schlesinger received her IB training in Mathematics in Montreal, Québec.

Mrs. Schlesinger is an early retiree from the Windsor Board of Education for which she served as teacher of Mathematics at Centennial secondary school, Assistant head of Mathematics Department at Walkerville Secondary School and Head of Mathematics Department at W. D. Lowe Secondary School. Mrs. Schlesinger was also among the first to have received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching Science Technology and Mathematics and is the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award by the OSSTF (Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation). Mrs Schlesinger was involved in curriculum development and design for the Board of Education of Windsor. Mrs. Schlesinger taught Mathematics in Canada, the USA and Israel. Moreover, she has travelled widely, studying the educational systems of New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Japan, the UK and Israel as well as other countries. Mrs. Schlesinger has been teaching IB Math since her training in 1996.

Thérèse H. Gadoury - Head of School

Mlle Gadoury was born in Windsor, Ontario and attended French primary and secondary schools of the Windsor Roman Catholic Separate School Board. An accomplished organist and soprano, Mlle Gadoury holds an Associate Diploma (Gold Medalist) and a B.A. in Honours Music from the University of Western Ontario and an Artist Diploma from the University of Toronto. She also holds an LL.B. from the University of Windsor and a J.D. from the University of Detroit. Mlle Gadoury became a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1992.

In addition to her administrative duties as Directrice of Académie Ste. Cécile Academy of Music Inc. and of Académie Ste. Cécile International School, Mlle Gadoury has taught at the Academy and currently serves as music director and organist at various churches.

In November of 2000, Mlle Gadoury was recognized by Pope John Paul II for representing The Holy See at a recent meeting of the Organization of the American States.

Mlle Gadoury, having taken her vows under Most Reverend Bishop John Michael Sherlock in June, 1986, is a “consecrated woman, living in the world”.
